I think for a story to be good it has to keep your intrest. It has to have a point a plot. It has to be exciting. No lollygaging at the beginning of the story get right into the story.
A good story is one that is exciting enough that you don't want to put down the book. If you dont even want to pick up the book to read chances are it's not a good story
A good staory has to be exciting and it has to be somethng someone wants to read. It cant be some boring, story with boring things in it it has to keep your attention and make you want to read it again.
I think that a good story uses imagination of both the writer and the reader, any story that takes time and quiality to write is a good one.
Good stories are different for everyone. It kinda depends on what your interests are. A story could be a great story to me but if someone else were to read it they might think it was stupid or dumb. So I think it would depend on who was reading the story.
A Good story needs to be exciting in a way where you do not want to put it down and just keep reading. The story needs to have a point unless nobody will enjoy it. It will be boring without a point.
I agree that it has keep your interest. It is hard to focus if the story is boring and you can't keep focused.
A good story should grab the readers attention and never let go, it has to describe things that the reader might not understand or let the readers imagination go.
I think for a story to be good it has to have something really interesting in the beginning. It has to be descriptive. It cant get boring in the middle and towards the end. Something surprising should be in the end.
The story needs to be descriptive. Like, we need to know about the character's background: where they came from and how they got to where they are. The plot to the story has got to be interesting, something that will keep you on your toes. To me, a good story will keep me turning pages until three in the morning.
I totally agree with you Randi. A story should contain imagination for both the writer and the reader.
I agree that if it does not keep your intrest that you will get bored and that happens to me alot.
i think if a story cant keep your attetion than i don't think that it is a good story.
I think that a story should be interesting, with a lot of twists: things to keep me interested. I like when suspensful things make it more interesting, but thats just my taste.
I am interested in horror mostly, but at has to keep your interested or it you wont finish it and then you have wasted some time of your life that you will never get back.
I think a good story is when you don't want to take your nose out of it. It is full of adventure and excitement. For me I like stories that are outdoorsey or have to do with medicine and doctors.
A good story is one where you actually get the point about what they are saying. also it should be in easy terms to read it shouldnt be to difficult to read if i wrote a story i would want anyone to be able to read it

I think a good story has to have a good storyline, and an interesting one too. If a story doesn't keep your attention then you probably wouldn't want to read it. A good story also has to have a lot of details, and it can't jump subjects.

I think a good story should be fun to read. It should have an exciting ending. If it dosn't have an exciting ending it should be one that you dont expect.
I think a good story should have emotion. A good story has to be something you can enjoy. IT's exciting and advenurous. Good stories always have a meaning and they always make scence.

I think it is all about suspense.
For a story to be good i think it has to keep you intrested. I think you have to feel like thats happening to you feel like your in the book. Also like theres a plot in the story. A setting.

I think that the key to a good story is the setting and character. Where if there isnt any interesting characters, or a interesting setting then it would'nt be very exciting.
I think a lot of things make a story good but I like it to have suspence and also I love scary books. And I like it if the story doesn't start out slow.
I agree with that I loose focus if i think the story is boring, it has to make scense and be exciting, a good begining, middle, and end!
I think a good story is when you can keep people entertained, and in to the story. People arnt going to read your story if they dont like it.
I think a good story has to have alot of twist and turns. Alot of suspense in them. When I write I always try to keep the reader guessing at what is going to happen. I also like the unexpected twists.
The author has to take me to a place that I have never been before. I like to escape. I think an author can do this with description and character development.

Haha, a good story has to have detail but not boring detail, make you feel like you are there, and has to be something you want to read.
I think a story is good when you have interest in it. If it has excitement and adventure to keep you reading the book. Also a good plot to the story.
Jojo I think detail is one of the least important things in the story. I think one of the more important things is that the author confuses you or makes u think hard about the story. But not to the extent where the story becomes vague.
The author has to have good descriptive words and keep the reader guessing.

I think for a story to be "good" it needs to be interesting and for me it has to be a book about something I like. I think that it should be interesting from the very first page if it isn't I lose interest.
I think what makes a good story is having a good story line and making it flow into the next event. Also i think knowing how to make the reader interested in the story is a good idea because if they dont like it how are they supposed to keep reading it? So i like books that are about horror and murders and csi and cool gross stuff like that. I also think maybe when the author doesnt match the writing with the story line it just gets the reader confused and a lot of people like me get confused easlily by books.
in order to have a good story you need a good beginning good punctuation good middle and a good end you also need an interseting topic and good choice of words and if you have all of those traits then you have a pretty good story!!
I think a good story is when you can't take your eyes off the book. I like fanacy like Harry Potter and horror like 1408 and almost anything by stephen king and book about vampires like twilight and almost anything by stepheni myer and ann rice they have really good books but ya thats my definition of a good book.

Action. It always helps if there is suspense. That really wants me to keep on reading.
It has to have what a person likes in a story. For instance mystery, action, or fantasy. I like it when it has a faster motion to the events. Not taking a very long time to describe one little event in the story.
I think a good story vary's from the person.
Whatever interests you is what makes a "good" story. I want a book that I actually want to read,that doesn't bore me.

Any story that keeps the reader hooked. It also helps if the reader can relate to things in the story.
I completly agree with alcalas because everyones idea of a good story is personal. I would have to say it is something that you don't want to stop reading. But with specific details, it's all up to that person.
In my opinion a good story is one that has lots of suspense and mystery to it. Or maybe a really good, well rounded plot triangle with a definite climax.
A story is only good, if it has thought to it. And most of the time of it makes sense. If you can predict what happens next.
I agree with pigsrtiny01. The story has to to be intersting and you'll never want to put down the book.
I think that for a story to be good, it has to have a point, or a meaning. I also think that the reader, whomever that may be, should be able to connect to the story in some way. I, personally, like stories with a lot of details and dialogue that describe how the characters are feeling and what they're thinking. If there is only one character in a story and They never say anything, or they're thoughts are never conveyed somehow in the story, then I probably won't read it.

I think that for a story to be good it has to have a beginning that catches your attention. The story should have a very powerful climax. It also helps if you can relate to something or someone in the story. I can usually tell when i am really getting into a book because i get excited to read it.
i think a good story keeps you on the edge of your seat and has really unexpected plot twists. it has to keep you wondering what's gonna happen next and how it's gonna all work out in the end.
I think that a story is good when there is something that the book is going to teach you something or when it is a book that you understand. When that is good you have to like the book also
